MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS
Director/Producer/Writer of the feature documentary, ​“SITTING STILL,” on the work and philosophy of master designer Laurie Olin. Awarded 4 major grants, including a ​National Endowment for the Arts​ grant (NEA) in 2016. Currently in production.

Director/Writer of a 6-part documentary series, ​“Defining Beauty,” for ​Disney/MAKER Studios, ​featuring ​5 African-American lifestyle and beauty gurus from YouTube discussing standards of beauty for women of color through topics of racism, colorism, body image, and hair. Premiered March 2016 on ​Go90​.

Director/Producer of six 90-minute biographical documentaries, ​The Oral Histories Series​, for The Cultural Landscape Foundation (TCLF). Released on DVD and online distribution (2011-2015).

Education

Gina Angelone received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Hampshire College in 1985 with a two-year grant at the University of Paris to complete her undergraduate thesis. In Paris, Gina studied under major writer/philosophers Hélène Cixous, Julia Kristeva and Milan Kundera. After graduating, Gina moved to Southeast Asia and spent a year working for the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. She then returned to France and apprenticed for a BBC director before finally settling in New York City where she lived and worked for the next 23 years.
