About the job

“There are no rules in filmmaking. Only sins. And the cardinal sin is dullness.”
—Frank Capra

We are a Y Combinator and venture-backed startup that creates cinematic online courses with the world’s biggest influencers.

The founding team has years of experience creating binge-worthy content — we’ve created multiple viral YouTube channels that now have over 4.5 million subscribers and over 500 million views. We’re now taking that content creation experience and applying it to the monotonous world of online education.

If you’ve ever taken an online course, you already know that 99% of them suck. That’s because they all do the same thing: record a dry and uninspiring instructor who talks to the camera for hours on end. While this is fantastic for getting over an Ambien addiction, it’s atrocious for actual learning.

Think about what can be done with video: we have the ability to create things like Avatar, The Dark Knight, and Game of Thrones, but the status quo when it comes to online courses is this: this. In an ice cream parlor of unlimited flavors, every other online education company has opted for vanilla. We have our eye on the mint triple chocolate chip birthday cake cookie dough with strawberry whipped cream and banana nut sprinkles.

Our team is approaching online learning in a completely new way: combining educational content with compelling stories, captivating cinematography, creative soundtracks, and much more. The result is a beautiful course that feels like a movie. We believe the future of education lies in creating world-class content.

As a Production Manager, you will be closely working on all phases of the production process from ideation to post production. Not only will you be involved with the creation of cinematic courses, you’ll also be very active with our marketing efforts as well (e.g. viral campaigns, video ads, podcasts, and much more).

We are looking for someone who has superhuman project management, creative problem solving, and organizational skills. Someone who thrives when working on multiple projects at once and when tackling complex operational problems. Someone who will help us create a scalable production process as we grow from 20 to 200 employees.

-Fulfill practical, everyday production needs while maintaining budgets and schedules, allocating payments.
-Determine milestones, deliverables and scope of show/project and maximizes efficiencies in the creative tasks.
-Hire crews and contractors: negotiate rates of pay, negotiate costs and approve the booking of resources, equipment and suppliers.
-Oversee location bookings and arranging any necessary permissions and risk assessments (i.e. insurance).
-Maintain and update multiple production calendars. Establish a pipeline that tracks all projects to ensure timely completion.
-Assist with on-boarding, scheduling and training of new team members.

-2+ years experience in similar position; coordinating/scheduling productions.
-God-like organizational skills and attention to detail.
-A passion for production and a creative eye.
-Ability to differentiate between different vibes / feels of locations and set designs.
-Ability to handle ambiguous projects and be efficient in decision making.
-Strong leadership skills - capable of motivating team members & performance management.

The salary for the position starts at $60,000 and increases up to $80,000 based on experience. Benefits include stock options, catered lunch and dinner every day, a 401k, and full health care benefits. We’re extremely excited to meet you, and see if it’s a potential fit.
