I play drums as part of a band called Dogs of Riga. We play shows all over London and have a very successful monthly residency in East London, which sees us booking all the bands, promoting and running the event. My involvement in this group has not only honed my skills as a musician but has improved my communication skills as their is a lot of liaising with booking agents, venues and other artists. I have had to acquire organisation skills as well in order to book rehearsal times when all members are free and make sure everyone is available for gigs and that all the equipment is there and working.
Wagamama: July 2015 to present day.
I am also currently part of the Front of House team at Wagamama. This sees me waiting on tables, greeting and seating customers, running food and adhering to strict health, safety and hygiene guidelines. The restaurant can get extremely busy and I have to deal with many tasks and issues quickly and this has given me high problem solving skills and an ability to work well under pressure.
Drum Teacher: Self-Employed, 2014 to 2015 (Part Time).
Alongside studying at university, I taught drums, which required me to have excellent people skills so that I could help pupils realise their full potential. I had to plan the content of a lesson and analyse my pupil’s strengths and weaknesses to decide what teaching method would be most suited for the individual.
Bracken Hill Fine Foods: June 2010 to September 2012 (Full Time), Summer 2013 & 2014 (Full Time).
In my role at Bracken Hill I worked in the cooking room making jams, marmalades and chutneys. I worked as part of a successful team, sticking to deadlines, following strict recipes while also adhering to health and safety policies and procedures. This job required a happy and motivated attitude as at times jobs could become quite repetitive and I enjoyed keeping up the team’s moral in a professional manor.
