Video: Marilyn Manson - 'SAY10'

Marilyn Manson announced his return in suitably striking style yesterday with a short but impactful video clip for forthcoming single SAY10, taken from his upcoming tenth studio album of the same name, which will be released on 14th February 2017 (Valentine’s Day!).

Clearly timed to coincide with the US election, the graphic new video - which was directed and conceptualised by long-time Manson collaborator Tyler Shields - depicts its protagonist astride a throne, tearing out pages from the Bible and, seemingly, beheading a rather familiar-looking blond man in a blue suit and red tie…

Musically, this is a sparse, dark, brooding track which slithers into being as Manson whispers "Something is shedding its scales / Crying from the heat of the light / Or the empty shell on the stage / And cash is a poor man's money”.  Chilling and all too apposite.

Manson is an artist who thrives in the barren wasteland, and if this is a taste of what’s to come, then his forthcoming album will show him to be more vital and relevant than ever.  The antihero we all still need.
