Wonder Woman Movie Breaks Records

Warner Bros. and DC Comics superhero epic Wonder Woman opened to sold-out screenings nationally, taking more than $228 million worldwide in its first weekend out, and breaking the record for highest domestic opening for female director

Directed by Patty Jenkins, who was also responsible for the Oscar-winning Monster, the movie slayed most other recent superhero flicks, including both Guardians of the Galaxy films, as well as the first two Thor and Iron Man movies, and also broke the record set by Fifty Shades of Grey’s Sam Taylor-Johnson for best domestic opening of all-time for a female director.

One of the most critically-acclaimed movies of the year so far, Gal Gadot stars as the eponymous heroine as she fights to defeat German troops during World War 1.  Critics have praised some impressive acting and mind-blowing visual effects and action sequences, with many calling it the best film in the DC Extended Universe to date and praising Gadot and co-star Chris Pine's performances and chemistry.
