About the Job
The Technical Production Manager is responsible for all technical aspects of productions for both DVD and Digital distribution with an eye towards creative innovation and exceptional customer experience. This individual is tasked with researching, evaluating and incorporating current and emerging technologies into current and future products; handling the planning & logistics for large and small scale on-location productions; overseeing the Transcoding, Authoring, Quality Control and Studio Production departments; establishing a digital assets management system; and developing & disseminating best practices around TGC video production. This position works in close communication and collaboration with the, the Sr. Director of Production and Operations, Sr. Director of Content Development and the SVP of Product Development.
The Technical Production Manager should be a knowledgeable video production professional with 8-10 years experience in the technical aspects of video production; including editing, studio equipment, production techniques; digital transcoding, file management all in the service of creative video endeavors. The ideal candidate should also be a self-starter with exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to communicate & interact effectively up and down all levels of the organization.

Major Responsibilities:
•Establish and maintain technical standards throughout Product Development under the direction of the Sr. Director of Production and Operations
•Researches, evaluate, implement and train personnel on new technologies that advance and improve our products.
•Develop best practices for incorporating technologies into our products.
•Supervise the use of those technologies and report findings to senior management.
•Collaborate with Producton team on how to best incorporate technologies (still store, smart tablet, large video screen, green screen) into courses.
•Maintain standard of quality of look for i.e. set design, lighting, live to tape production techniques, etc. especially relating to creative use of Technology such as whether to shoot in 24 fps, lighting for depth of field, , SOP for jam synching field cams, managing media in the field.
•Support R & D on emerging technologies and recommend best practices. Assume role of project manager for major initiatives. Streaming, subscription, iphone, set top strategy
•Handle Planning and logistics for large and small scale on location shoots, coordinate location shooting packages, provide lists of technical gear needed, office space, talent requests and any production needs, including hiring crews, tracking invoices, creating production schedules.
•Create media management structure and Post Production Supervision. Manage all course media, field media and intellectual property. Recommend software and hardware technologies to assist us in cataloging, archiving and accessing all media efficiently.
•Collaborate closely with Sr. Director of Production and Ops in the preparation of course budgets and field production forecasts.
•Oversee the quality of DVD Mastering, Studio Production and Quality Control, including scheduling contractors for QC and Studio support. Reports directly to Sr. Director of Production and Operations
•Act as hands-on editor on 3 new brand short-form courses for 2012.
•Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Management
Ideal Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Technical Production Manager position will have:
•8-10 years experience in the technical aspects of video production, i.e. editing, studio and field equipment, production techniques, DVD authoring, Data management etc.
•Strong knowledge of ingest, editing and archive workflow helpful. Will be well-versed in studio and control room production techniques to assist in any and all equipment related issues. Liaison with outside vendor Human Circuit.
•The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with significant video/television production experience; both in studio and in the field.
•Strong project management experience
