We have an immediate opening for a full-time Technical Director.

This position works with the Production Team and the News Department. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Technical directing and/or directing of daily newscasts, live updates, and special recordings. Create news graphic elements for the shows, record segments for newscasts, and edit as needed. Assists in preparation of newscast (audio, editing, cameras, graphics, master control, etc.). Create new graphics (sports logos, new looks, etc.). Responsible for ingesting of daily spots to the server and the Master Control supervision. Technical support for News department and liaison with Engineering department. Works with producer to execute creative flow of broadcasts. Produces/edits news promotions, news segments, and other broadcast segments required by station. Track all recorded feeds and track tape archival system. Perform in-house editing; create graphics, linear and non-linear editor. Responsible for news graphics archives and ingestion of commercials. Create news bumps and opens. Develop and maintain contacts throughout the community. Create enterprise sweeps story ideas. Supervise technical newscast crew to ensure efficiency in all areas. Assist with the constant revamping of studio shots and looks, including audio and lights set up for all on air entities. Must maintain a good driving record.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Basic Skills: Must be able to lift, set up, operate, and take down production equipment. Must know how to use field and studio cameras. Knowledge of newsroom operations and technical requirements to have show on-air, cue terms and signals. Ability to cut the in-house videos prior to pre-show directing duties. Ability to work well under pressure, respond quickly to changes and handle simultaneous tasks. Ability to make solid news judgments Schedule must be extremely flexible; available for any last minute assignments and able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. Must have a valid Texas drivers license and a clean driving record.

Preferred Skills: Knowledge of all aspects of ENG/SNG Familiar with microwave, satellite, and digital technology Ability to shoot and edit Experience Requirement: Must have experience in a news room with post-production equipment. Must have experience at remote shoots. Two years of experience in a similar position is required.

Language Requirement: Fully bilingual (English and Spanish) written and oral required. Education
