Description: The Software Engineer I will play a key role in automating the building, releasing and deploying of digital products, including the development of new tools for build and release automation D ENGINEERING MANAGER
Responsibilities: The incumbent and ESPN will implement build and release infrastructure process and tooling to support web developers and engineers delivering products for one of the largest websites on the planet. We will provide access to source code as required to fulfill specific deliverables
• Use internal project tracking and management tool to enter daily work updates on deliverables
• Participate in weekly meetings as scheduled by the company and communicate any issues, problems or errors that prevent completion of assigned deliverables as scheduled to the designated Project Manager
• Recommend technical decisions for platform choices, frameworks, and design patterns
• Accountable for high level of personal productivity on assigned tasks and projects
• Communicates with both internal and external contacts at a variety of organizational levels to gather requirements and discuss defined specifications
• Communicate clearly technical findings, issues, and outcomes to team members
• Manage multiple projects within a short development cycle with routine supervision
Qualifications: The incumbent must demonstrate ability to work on a diverse scope of software projects requiring detailed analysis, creative/practical problem solving and sound judgment. Should be a team player with an entrepreneurial spirit to operate effectively in a fast paced, team-oriented and collaborative environment as well as demonstrate good organization and communication skills. Should have a successful track record of developing interactive tools, utilities, and products from conceptualization through deployment
1. Bachelor‘s degree in Computer Science or related field, and/or equivalent work experience
2. Experience with Java
3. Knowledge of build systems like Maven and related concepts like continuous integration
4. Understanding of OO design patterns and concepts
5. Experience in managing multiple projects within a short development cycle with routine supervision
**Desired**
1. Master‘s degree in Computer Science or related field
2. Experience with HTTP, XML, Web Services
3. Experience developing Java plugins to Maven, Sonatype Nexus or TeamCity
4. Contributed to open source projects
5. Experience with Python and Django
6. Experience/knowledge of the following: Glassfish, Tomcat, JMS/MQ messaging, JPA/Hibernate, JAXB/JAX-RS, EJB's and other Java EE6 technologies
