About the Job
Entry level position in video production with a focus on editing. Person needs to be focused on documentary style editing. We’re a niche agency with small collaborative team. We provide a creative work environment in downtown Minneapolis. Our video department is picking up speed and this entry-level position can be a door to career growth into a full editor position. Core tasks include:
Data management for all incoming and archived digital and tape-based assets
Maintain media library
Ingest footage and set up projects for editing
Initiate rough assemblies
Manage final compressions for HTML 5 or other required formats
Manage back ups of current projects, ensure all data is entered into library
Occasional opportunity to take edit jobs from start to completion
Field and studio production as PA with light grip work
Necessary Qualities:
Strong talent for story development
Career focus in editing, primarily for documentaries
Proficiency with core functions of Final Cut Pro 7
Works well in closely supervised, fast-paced edit sessions with producers
Self-driven to exceed expectations when working on unsupervised tasks
Maturity and adaptive personal workflow to fit into the established protocols of company
Strong work ethic for all assignments, whether it’s a data entry task or an edit project, person is focused on getting things done exceptionally.
Collaborative spirit
Other Qualities that are not mandatory, but would be beneficial:
Production experience: setting up lights, field audio mixing.
Knowledge of video compression (Sorenson Squeeze in particular or Apple Compressor), customizing presets with codecs, data rate
Photoshop experience for basic graphic creation to photo touch up
File Maker Pro database software
Microsoft Office Excel and Word
