Director of Programming

About the Job

We are seeking a Director of Programming who is as passionate about food as we are to join our team in New York.

We are looking for a leader with at least 5 years hands-on television experience in either 1) television production in long form programming at Producer-level in lifestyle, docusoap and/or reality subject matter, or 2) cable or network Programming Dept for lifestyle, docusoap, and/or reality subject matter. Long form storytelling experience essential. Contacts with outside production companies a plus, as is knowledge of and/or interest in food.

Manage all aspects of original commissioned productions, including generating ideas for series and specials.
Responsible for evaluation of segment and episode ideas, treatments, act layouts and rundowns, scripts, graphics, music, rough cut, and fine cut to ensure that our editorial and production standards are upheld throughout the production cycle.
Responsible for ensuring that contractual obligations are met by production companies, and that delivery deadlines for program deliverables are enforced.
Handle programming requests from internal departments as well as outside producers as needed.
Perform additional duties as needed and as directed.
The skills you need:

Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines, while prioritizing projects and working independently when necessary. Strong long-form script writing and editorial skills essential. Keen understanding of television production, development and budgeting. Knowledge of cable television market, demographics and competitive programming a plus. College degree preferred.
