About the Job

Role Summary/Purpose Associate producer, you will work directly with producers, editors, directors, senior producers and executive producer to write and produce content for distribution.
Essential Responsibilities
Writing stories
Researching stories
Gathering elements
Viewing all video before writing
Explaining edit instructions in detail on script
Pitching story ideas (day-of, next day, futures)
Working directly with graphics department to create show graphics
Qualifications/Requirements Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
At least 1 year of production experience

Eligibility Requirements:

Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news
Must be willing to work in NYC.
Must be willing to take drug test and submit to a background investigation.
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
Must be 18 years or older.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
Desired Characteristics
Strong writing skills and sound news judgment critical
Knowledge of various research sources (web, print, film, tape, sound, music) with particular emphasis
on expertise in using the web as a research tool
Self-starter, eager to work on a small team, performing wide range of functions in a boundary-less way
Ability to work in tandem with Producers, Anchor, Editors and Directors
Experience using Avid Newscutter preferred.
