Jesse Eisenberg to Play Lex Luthor in ‘Superman vs. Batman’Posted on January 31st, 2014 by Media-Match in At the Movies
Producers of the upcoming Batman vs. Superman caused a twitter-fit awhile back when they chose Ben Affleck as the new Batman. Now, in another risky casting choice, they’ve tapped Jesse Eisenberg, the guy who played Mark Zuckerberg, to take on the role of super-villain Lex Luthor. Who knows? It might just work.
“He’s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman.” Says Director Zack Snyder. “Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.”
In addition, Jeremy Irons has been chosen to play Bruce Wayne’s friend, mentor and butler Alfred. Snyder called Irons’ role, “an absolutely critical element in the intricate infrastructure that allows Bruce Wayne to transform himself into Batman.” Whatever “intricate infrastructure” means. Let’s be real. Snyder directed 300 and Watchmen. We can’t seriously expect any “intricate” storytelling in a movie with “vs.” in its title. Bring on the action.
