Rory has over 25 years experience in senior management of some of the leading blue chip media businesses in the UK, including The National Magazine Company, Associated Newspapers, Capital Radio, EMAP, and latterly as Sales Director of the Telegraph Media Group. Specialising in the trading of design, development and delivery of multi channel media solutions.
Rory and his teams have been awarded many accolades by the industry, including Idea of The Year, Sales Team of the Year and Strategic Sales Pitch of the year in consecutive years by Media Week and Dynamic Sales Team of the Year, International Idea of the year and Sales Team of the year by Campaign.
Rory joined MAMA Group in 2008 and set up Music & Media Solutions as a central hub for brand activity at MAMA, immediately turning a £150k turnover into a £1.8m turnover in only 8 months. Rory then co-founded PAPA Projects (now MAMA Productions) as a sister company to MMS to work with brand and event strategy in production. MAMA productions now produces all of MAMA’s festivals and events and works with numerous premium brands including Coca-Cola, Sony, Selfridges, Diageo and Redbull.
Rory was part of a management buy out with LDC in 2013, becoming Group Commercial Director and soon after being asked to become CEO of MAMA & Company, overseeing the festival and venue business for the group. Rory led the IPO of MAMA in 2016 that resulted in the acquisition by Live Nation. Rory continues to run MAMA Festivals business as part of the Exec team at Live Nation, and recently took on VIP Nation Europe across all touring and festivals.
Skindred have played to huge audiences across the world, with a long string of high profile festival slots – including Download, Hurricane, Bestival and Polish Woodstock – along with sold-out headline tours at leading venues such as London’s Forum and Brixton Academy. The band has sold more than half a million records worldwide during their career to date.
The bands latest 6th studio album ‘Volume’ – is their first release on Napalm Records. The album was recorded at The Strongroom Studio in East London and was produced by longtime collaborator James ‘Lerock’ Loughrey (previously worked with the likes of White Zombie, Depeche Mode, Manic Street Preachers).
