The ABC affiliate in Colorado Springs has an immediate opening for a News Producer/Weekend Assignment Editor. This position requires someone who is responsible, knows how to find stories that fit our brand and can produce compelling newscasts. If this sounds like you, read on. Duties and Responsibilities: Maintains ‘future files’; runs the morning story meetings on weekends; lays out known and possible story ideas; monitors police scanners, answers phones, checks emails and makes phone calls to catch breaking or spot news stories; acts as reporter as needed gathering facts and writing stories; maintains contacts; checks and rewrites reporter stories for accuracy, clarity and impact; acts as supervisor on duty handling all aspects of newsroom management; creates fast-paced, aggressive newscast; and conducts meetings after each newscast.

Responsibilities:
Requirements: Candidates must have at least two years television newsroom experience; a degree in journalism, mass communications or related field; excellent communications and writing skills; able to be a good team leader; and flexibility in scheduling. The successful candidate will have strong news judgment, a keen ear for scanner traffic, be able to make quick decisions and juggle crews to cover multiple stories, superior organization skills, be able to work under tight deadlines and a sense of urgency needed for this job.
