These positions are Dallas-based and run for approximately 4 months.
The Technical Director is responsible for the technical needs of a project. This includes incorporating various inputs from artists into the production pipeline, ensuring they are functioning properly, and optimizing the processes involved. This includes interacting with supervisors and clients to provide technical assistance and solutions to all phases of production as required by the scope of the project.

• Evaluate the layout, modeling, rigging, animation, texture, fur, cloth, lighting and compositing needs of a project and develop and execute a strategy for incorporating all or some of these needs within the Reel FX pipeline
• Work with a production team to determine what is needed for the desired look and performance of a project and incorporate that into new or existing setups
• Write scripts and incorporate them into the pipeline, enabling the artists to efficiently prepare deliverables for the next phase of production

Experience:
Skills: • High level knowledge of Maya, the dependency graph and mel scripting
• Experience with other programming/scripting languages (such as python, C++, perl, etc.) is a plus
• A history of consistent high-end technical execution
• Production experience in one or more of the following areas: layout, animation, modeling, textures, rigging, fur/hair, cloth, effects, lighting, or compositing
• Strong artistic skills, with a good eye for form and motion
• Experience with Unix/Linux operating system
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• A creative problem solver who is organized and critical of his or her own work.
• Interest and ability to mentor artists and programmers
• Ability to cope with the pressure of our busy, deadline driven industry
Education and Training: • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Graphics, Computer Animation, Architectural/Industrial Design, or related field; or equivalent professional experience |
