Job Posting Date: 12/23/09 The Supervising Producer, Short-Form will create, produce and manage ground breaking, innovative short-form and interstitial programs. The Supervising Producer, Short Form works with the VP Creative Marketing to develop promotion strategies and conceptualize innovative interstitials and has creative oversight of a variety of production projects. This position works closely with various internal groups to create new ways of talking to our audience.
Responsibilities:
• Be a creative and inspiring leader; share ideas and contribute to the strategic vision and direction of the network; explore the possibilities for each project managed (ex. Online opportunities, VOD offering, commerce options, potential of project to become an event or series, etc.)
• Work with various internal teams to conduct regular health checks on shows being managed and make recommendations on what the implications of the data are for communications, marketing, ad sales, etc.
• Contribute to team initiatives that have network-wide implications (ex. best practices, sharing information, improving vendor relations, business affairs processes, etc.)
• Supervision of entire creative process – write, review, edit, and approve preliminary and final treatments, outlines, shooting scripts, scripts, production schedules, budgets, selects, graphics, music, rough cuts, fine cuts, final narration and final versions of all assigned projects.
• Communication of production information to all internal (ex. Production Management, Business Affairs, Legal, Scheduling, Marketing, Communications, Online, Education, Consumer Products, etc.) and external parties associated with the production including the senior management team as necessary.
• Management of multiple outside production companies, advertising agencies and flied crew on multiple projects simultaneously to ensure timely, effective and on-budget development, production and delivery of original commissions and co-productions.
• Adherence to and accountability for all aspects of OWN’s editorial, budgetary and production standards, as well as contractual and deliverables requirements for OWN programming.
• Supervision of all production phases of reversions or repackaging, including editing, renarration, post-production audio, scripting, graphics and field and studio production.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Ten years field or studio production experience as producer or writer in film or video documentary, reality, drama, short-form, interstitials, etc.
• Working knowledge of production and editing tools, including Avid, Flame, Audio, etc. as well as ability to supervise others in their use.
• A demonstrated track record in creative execution and ratings performance.
• Experience managing a slate of multiple production projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrated aptitude to work closely with external producers to represent the network’s needs.
• Proven success in managing the creative process from concept to air.
• Ability to work closely with related divisions including press, digital, programming, ad sales, etc. |
