Web design and digital media (tenure-track assistant professor)

This tenure-track position requires an MFA or Ph.D. in web design, digital media design, interactive media, online media or related fields. Previous teaching experience preferred. Relevant professional business/industry experience is highly desirable. Diverse applicants from the broadest variety of relevant disciplines are encouraged to apply. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in teaching, scholarship and service in addition to mentoring students and building professional relationships with other faculty and outside resources.

Specific responsibilities will likely include:
• Teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in both theory and practice of web design and digital media and other related classes.
• Contribute to the department’s push toward online centers of excellence including the department’s current and planned interactive, media-rich websites.
• ideal candidates should have some or all of the following technical expertise:
o Flash and ActionScript
o PhotoShop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver (Adobe CS3)
o Working knowledge of Apple or Avid non-linear editing suites
• The overall category of teaching including areas such as: classroom teaching; curriculum and program development; application of technology to education.
• The overall category of scholarship including areas such as: research activities; papers and publications; demonstration of professional competence appropriate to your discipline.
• The overall category of service including areas such as: student advisement and mentoring; student recruitment and retention; service to the NYIT community; service to the community at large.
