Create, manage and maintain systems used to support and archive all News department media in a tapeless, non-linear environment. Administer and maintain the Thomson Grass Valley Aurora Digital News Production System. Play the role of “technology advocate” for the news department. Develop new ways to integrate technology into the newsgathering process. Supply input and support for systems upgrades due to technological advancements. Maintain and improve current archiving system involving tape and digital server systems. Assist in coordinating the daily News department recorded media intake and provide support for editing and archiving systems. Help with coordination of editing assignments. Provide assistance for archival search request. Train News personnel in use of digital assets systems.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge of Windows 2003/2000 Server, Windows XP/2000, and TCP/IP Networking. Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Communications. Previous newsroom experience including all aspects of ENG news coverage, including broadcast quality cameras, linear and non-linear editing, as well as microwave and satellite transmission. Knowledge of MS-SQL 2000/2005, iSCSI networking, Grass Valley News Edit XT or K2/Profile video servers. Inews systems experience a plus.
