We are currently seeking an experienced Journalist who possesses a keen passion for “All things Sport” to join the Rockhampton team.

Reporting to the State News Director, Queensland, you will be responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships with the local sporting majors. You will break sports stories and assist coverage of various sporting events in the region as you research, compile and produce high quality news stories for our local news bulletins. Your role sees you partnering with editors and camera operators to ensure the News meets deadline, and is of the highest standards of excellence.

You will be a degree-qualified journalist with experience working as a professional journalist in the media industry. You must also demonstrate:

· A keen interest and knowledge of SPORT, SPORT, SPORT
· The flair to see a story from conceptualisation to presentation in a way that it becomes a “must see” for our viewers
· A sound knowledge of issues in the local market you will be covering.

You will be competent at building effective relationships through establishing networks and maintaining your contacts. You will be a tenacious and driven reporter, who demonstrates a strong understanding and working knowledge of media law.

Electronic media experience would be well regarded.
